                                           WEED YOUR GARDEN
There was once an old fox. Every day he looked through the holes of a fence. To him the inside of the fence was heaven. All sorts of lush things were growing in the garden. The fox tried to squeeze through the holes in the fence, but he couldn’t do it. So the fox decided he would starve himself so he could get through. He went one, two, three, four, five weeks without eating. Pretty soon the fox is the same size as the hole in the fence. He was as skinny as a rail. He breathes in and passes through the boards on the fence. He smiles because he is in what he is perceived as heaven. He eats his fill. He stays there for weeks and has a wonderful time in the garden . . . but he is getting fat. He wants his freedom, but he can’t get out of the fence because he’s too fat. He decides to starve himself until he can have his freedom. So he goes through the anguish of losing all of his excess pounds. Pretty soon, when he’s half-starved, he slips out to freedom. The only problem is he’s so hungry that within a day or so he starts looking in the fence and says, “My, I’d like to be on the other side . . .”

So many times it is like that in our lives. We think if only we could be somewhere else our lives would be good. The truth is, right here is where your life is happening. Right here is the now, the present moment in time. Right here is the spiritual opportunity. You will never have more opportunity than you have with you right now, because God is with you. God can turn an ordinary day, and ordinary place, into a heaven.

You have heard it said many times that life is a journey, not a destination. That’s true. The good life is a direction and not a destination. Everybody wants something better out of life. That is essential, and it is a basic drive of the soul. We are human beings who believe in moving on with our existence. We do not want to stay where we are.

But I ask you to look at your life. If you are in a state where you are not happy with what you have, try to discover and find the good in your present life and appreciate it. Use that point to move forward, and up, otherwise through your downcast mood you will actually cause yourself to move down.

Happiness is like a savings account. Every day we have to invest in that one day. A life is built one day at a time. What we have at the other end of life will be a large bank account that is filled with glorious memories.

I encourage you to fix your life to dreams about the next 24 hours, within the present moment of the day. Make your life come alive in this moment and every day. Many people live their lives like it is going to begin in some distant future. Find the good life with you by beginning your life this day, right now.

The only life you have-is the life you have now. If we don’t live today, we are going to have a lot of forgotten yesterdays that at the end of our journey were missed possibilities. Every year there are 365 possibilities for you to realize God in a new and profound way in your life. The biggest thing to discover every 24 hours is God. You can only find God through happiness because God is happiness. You can only find God through love because God is love.

We are here because we have brought God into our lives. We are here to celebrate that harvest because it is going to carry us all through every day of our lives. This is a celebration of the spiritual harvest. When we harvest the good of God in our lives, it is the beginning; it is a new beginning in our lives.

Everything in the universe is in celebration. The world is having a joyous celebration right now, and you are invited. Every leaf on every tree is shining forth “I am part of God’s good.” Life is wonderful! Life is good!

Yes, we go through challenges in our lives, just like there are bends and curves on the journey of our life. But I tell you, you are going to get to the other side because you are traveling with the strong engine of faith in God. You are moving forward, and upward, with a wonderful awareness of God and who you are, and the beauty that is there.

Sometimes life can seem dark and scary, but when you become aware that the danger is mostly in our minds, it takes all the power out of the worry and fear. You know what is real – The Presence of God with you EVERY MINUTE OF EVERYDAY.

The life of God is bringing you, every day, to a greater, more expanded path and direction of your life.

In many places in the Bible Jesus talks about a bonfire or a furnace fire, of turning the old inside of you into a purifying, cleansing flame. It is a cleaning that can use the negative inside of you as fuel, burning it away. It is a transmutation using the energy of change to help you fuel your dreams for tomorrow. That is the way life should be.

In Matthew 13:24-30 Jesus talks about the kingdom of heaven and how it may be compared to someone who has sown good seed in his field.

“The kingdom of heaven may be compared to someone who sowed good seed in his field; but while everybody was asleep, an enemy came among the wheat, and then went away. So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared as well. And the slaves of the householder came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where, then, did these weeds come from?’ He answered, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The slaves said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ But he replied, ‘No; for in gathering the weeds you would uproot the wheat along with
them. Let both of them grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Collect the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.'”

You must say “Be quiet to the weeds of thought! Those do NOT have to be a part of me. I am not going to allow this negative thought.” But when the weed thoughts are there, sow God-seeds-that will grow and God will take over your garden. There is a day of harvest. The day of harvest is today. On this day, we have some weeding to do. This is a time of releasing that which is no longer a part of our lives.

So, as your harvest day arrives, realize, and give thanks that you have another one tomorrow and another the day after that.

You are going to be different, and that makes your life different. You are looking through the eyes of God and you’re hearing through the ears of God and you’re speaking through the mouth of God. Do you know what you’ll find?

Something of great good, a wonderful new life of positive love given as a free gift to you by God through His son, Jesus Christ. Here we will find the celebration of happiness, service, love.

God bless you!

Let us pray:

What a wonderful time this time is . . . a time of prayer to realize God’s

In prayer we commit ourselves spiritually to express God’s love and God’s good.

The Holy Spirit is continually blessing our lives with fulfillment. We rejoice and are thankful. We are assured that God establishes Divine order and goodness in our life. Let us give thanks for the wonderful gift of happiness, of fulfillment, of love.

We ask that the light of Jesus Christ becomes our light, that we realize and are confident of Divine direction and guidance. Our God surges through our being, radiating love from us, drawing all the good to us that we may spread it on to all others.

In the name of Jesus Christ, we decree it. The goodness of God is now active in each of our lives and all the circumstances of our life- relationships, home, workplace. Everywhere we are, God is.

As this prayer time comes to an end, we are calm and poised in God’slove. God’s good is magnified and multiplied in every facet of our life. And we thank the Lord for helping us weed our garden and lead us through one personal harvest after another. We thank You God for making the statements above true in our lives.

In the name and through the power of Jesus Christ we pray . . . Amen
